Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Rick Dewey, M.D.

Background

Rick joined Versant Ventures in 2024 as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence based in Boston and New York City. He brings over 15 years of experience discovering and translating insights from the human genome into new medicines and healthcare paradigms.
Prior to joining Versant, Rick served as Chief Scientific Officer of Foresite Labs, directing efforts and teams using data science, computational biology, and principles of precision medicine to create, incubate, and launch therapeutics and healthcare companies.

Previously, he served as Head of Translational Genetics at Regeneron Genetics Center. In this role, he built and led teams that used large-scale human genomics to systematically understand human biology and disease pathogenesis, critically evaluate therapeutic targets in all stages of discovery and development, and discover novel therapeutic targets, several of which are now being pursued in late-stage clinical trials.
